Originally tourism was carried out by nature-loving tourists who wanted the tourist destination to remain intact and sustainable, in addition to the culture and welfare of the people to be maintained.
But in its development it turned out that this form of tourism developed because it was much favored by tourists. In 1995 The Tourism Society then defined tourism as a new form of responsible travel activities in areas that are still natural or areas that are managed by natural norms where the purpose other than to enjoy its beauty also involves elements of education, understanding and support for conservation efforts nature and increase local people's income around the tourist destination.
In some regions developing a new thought that is related to the understanding of tourism. The phenomenon of education is needed in the form of this tour. This is as defined by the Australian Department of Tourism which defines tourism as nature-based tourism by including aspects of education and interpretation of the natural environment and culture of the community with ecological sustainability management.
This definition affirms that aspects related are not only business as well as other forms of tourism, but are closer to special interest tourism, alternative tourism or special interest tourism with natural tourist objects and attractions.
Based on the definitions above, there are five important things that underlie tourism activities:
